Needlework and "female" arts in Cyprus in the past and now
Tochni, Cyprus/ 14-20 March 2010
This workshop in Cyprus offers the chance to learn and practice local traditional embroidery. The workshop is framed by educational visits, discussions and film projections about traditional female artisanship on the island and its expressions today. Participants should have some experience in embroidery on a beginner's level.
The workshop is supported by the LLP program of the European Union (Ref. Nr. CY-GRU-WO-2009-5). Participants can apply for a grant covering participation in all workshop activities, travel and subsistence costs. Certain terms and conditions apply.

Terms and conditions:
• Participation can be fully funded with a grant from the EU. The following costs will be covered:
- flight to Cyprus and back
- transfer to and from the airport in Cyprus
- accommodation in single or double rooms / full board (6 nights)
- participation in workshop and all activities
- workshop material
• The target group of this workshop consists of persons interested in traditional arts and crafts and who already have some experience in needlework at a beginners’ level.
• This workshop is not a course offering professional training.
• The program contains three types of activities:
- workshops in traditional Cypriot needlework under the guidance of an experienced artisan
- educational activities on the subject of traditional Cypriot arts and crafts eg. talks, educational visits, film screenings
- educational activities on the subject of female artists in Cyprus today e.g. talks and presentations, educational visits,
- discussion groups
• Participants will stay in the village of Tochni near Larnaca in rooms and apartments in traditional houses (www.cyprusvillages.com).
• The main working language of the workshop is English.
• Maximum number of participants: 15 (not more than 4 persons from one country)
Participation:
In order to participate at the workshop:
1. Fill in the application form attached to this mail. If more than 1 person are travelling together please fill in one application form (up to 4 persons).
2. Send the application form to anazitisi@cytanet.com.cy until 30/9/2009.
3. If you are accepted in the workshop you will receive a letter of acceptance as well as further information until 30/10/2009.
4. If you are not accepted in the workshop you will receive a letter until 30/10/ 2009.
